Self-Guided Retreat
You are welcome to join us at Launde Abbey for a private retreat of your own.
Our picturesque, well-tended grounds, surrounded by 450 acres of rolling parkland, offers a unique setting in which to find stillness and encounter God. On an individual, self-guided retreat, you are free to organise your time however you see fit. Spend some time in quiet contemplation, stroll around the grounds or join in with our daily rhythm of prayer and worship. Your private retreat is your own, and we are here to support you to have an experience that is right for you.
Accommodation
Our beautiful bedrooms are all en-suite and, along with comfortable beds, offer a desk and chair, seating and a hospitality tray with a selection of teas and coffees. You are also welcome to make use of available space within the main house or stable block for quiet reflection during your time at Launde Abbey.
If you wish for a quiet space, away from your room, our Shepherd’s Huts are an ideal solution. Situated in a quiet corner of our gardens, the Shepherd’s Huts are equipped with two armchairs, a writing desk and chair and tea and coffee-making facilities. They are ideal for day retreats, writers and artists or retreatants looking for a quiet space away from the main house. Our Shepherd’s Huts can be booked at Reception, or pre-booked to ensure availability; to pre-book contact us.
Prayer and Worship
Naturally, as a Christian on retreat, you will likely want to include some prayer in your schedule. Our medieval main chapel sustains our daily life of prayer and worship, in which all guests are welcome to share. See our Launde Chapel page for the service times. We also have two additional chapels within the grounds, offering further space for quiet worship, meditation and contemplation.
Spiritual Direction
Our resident clergy are also available for private spiritual direction. If you wish to spend some time with a member of our clergy team during your retreat, we would be happy to arrange that for you.
Hospitality
Our catering is renowned, and our expert chefs prepare a comprehensive dinner menu for our residential guests as well as a fresh lunchtime buffet and hot and cold breakfasts. All food is freshly prepared using, where possible, local ingredients as well as fruit and vegetables grown in our kitchen garden within the grounds. Freshly baked biscuits are available mid-morning and tea and cakes are served in the afternoon (available on our full board offering). We also have a fully stocked bar offering a wide selection of beers, wines and spirits as well as soft drinks.
Tailor your self-guided retreat in whatever way you choose. Begin today by selecting from our range of bedrooms and hospitality options.
Please note: When booking online, if we appear to be full, we might still have space available. Please enquire, and we would be happy to check our availability to see if we can accommodate you.
