On this Creationtide retreat, we explore the topic of joy with C S Lewis, author of the Narnia Chronicles (nature was one of the chief mediums through which joy came to him). Led by Andrew Swinford.
The aim of this semi-silent retreat weekend is to help you enter the world of silent retreats gently and with plenty of support. There will be guidance on how to use the time; periods on your own and with the other retreatants, and the opportunity to share your experience with others if you wish to do so. This two-day retreat will be an intimate conversation with one of the greatest exponents of the love of God, Bernard of Clairvaux, a French twelfth-century monk. It will offer teaching, worship, prayer, times of silence and the opportunity for individual appointments with the retreat conductor and relaxation in the grounds and surrounding countryside. This retreat explores the evolving message of the Bible. We step into the world of the Bible, with its different styles of writing and different levels of truth. We see how the Old and New Testaments relate to one another, and how ideas about God and Jesus, salvation and morality changed over the centuries. Led by Peter Sills.
