Taizé Easter Retreat [POSTPONED]

To visit the Taizé Community is to enter the resurrection of Christ played out daily in its Rule of Life, its hospitality and worship. We will taste a little of Taizé during this retreat as we consider a number of Taizé icons that take us on a journey from birth to death and resurrection and finally new life in Christ.

Led by Chris Webb and Emily Walker, this retreat will explore our identity as children of God as we seek to grow more joyfully in Christ’s risen life. There will be periods of silence in the space and beauty of Launde Abbey and worship woven throughout with music from Taizé. This retreat will be helpful for anyone who wants to pause, reflect and enter the joy and life of Easter more deeply.

Chris Webb is Deputy Warden of Launde Abbey and Spirituality Adviser to the Diocese of Leicester. He has ministered in a wide variety of contexts: as president of a spiritual formation ministry in the USA, as parish priest in Welsh farming communities and steelworking towns, and even in a church for the homeless. He is the author of two books: The Fire of the Word (2011) and God-Soaked Life (2017).

Emily Walker is a church musician working in Leicester and across the UK. Previously, Emily worked for the Iona Community, as Abbey Musician and spent six years in London as a music therapist, choral director and piano teacher. Emily lived and worked at Launde Abbey for three years and continues to work as part of the administration team.
