Deepening Discipleship Day: Love Means Love – Same Sex Relationships and the Bible **NOW AN ONLINE EVENT**
23rd November 2020, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm
£20Love means Love is the title of David Runcorn’s latest book (to be published in June 2020) and forms the focus of the day. It is offered as a resource alongside the Church of England’s forthcoming study resource Living in love and faith. Love means Love explores how we may hold an including and welcoming belief of same-sex relationships and marriage on the basis of, not in spite of, the teaching of scriptures.
The belief that committed same-sex expressions of love may be blessed and good in God’s eyes significantly changes historic Christian teaching. How is this possible? Were we wrong? It also requires a revisiting of familiar ways of reading and interpreting scripture. Is this possible? We will explore these issues and more during the day. We will also reflect on how we live together with differences, as this subject continues to divide the church. It will be a day in which all opinions and questions are welcome and respectfully listened too.
David Runcorn is a well-known conference speaker, writer, teacher and retreat leader. He is author of a number of books on spirituality, vocation and human development. He is or has been a parish priest, theological teacher, Director of Ministry Development, Director of Ordinands and a spiritual director. He lives in Devon.
