Creative Bible Journaling: Ordinary Baskets

We each have an array of ordinary gifts that have the potential to be transformed into the extraordinary. This is another opportunity to join us as we creatively explore how well God knows us and can change each one of us through our willingness to simply offer the little we have, to Him.

During this repeat of our Bible based retreat we will introduce a variety of ways to use paint, coloured pencils, and other art materials. There will be some input and supportive space to be creative, take risks, listen, reflect more deeply and receive from God. This retreat is for beginners as well as those with some experience of creative journaling. The emphasis will be on allowing the power of God’s gift of creativity and play to draw us closer to Himself, rather than on a polished end product, although that may well happen in the course of the retreat too! Most workshop materials well be provided but you may like to bring your own. You may also like to bring an old tee shirt, apron to protect your clothing. A short suggested list of basic materials will be provided nearer the retreat.

Jackie Thackray

Jackie Thackray leads Bible journaling quiet days, retreats, and a local Bible journaling community. She is a happily retired teacher, licensed national lay pioneer minister and spiritual accompanier. Her passion is to encourage people to have fun, enjoy their prayer life and relationship with God.

Karen Herrick

Karen Herrick is a freelance artist-educator, delivering creative sessions for wellbeing across many sectors of the community. She enjoys enabling and inspiring others to be creative, facilitating connections through creativity & contemplation- combining teaching skills with her love of colour, textiles, and Christian faith. She is a spiritual accompanier and lay chaplain who enjoys supporting others to draw closer to God through both her art & creative quiet days and retreats. She stitches stories of faith in textile art and writes a monthly blog “Sanctuary in Stitch”, journaling her spiritual journey in stitch.
