August Quiet Day: The Jesus Prayer
3rd August, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm£33
For centuries the Jesus Prayer has been leading Eastern Orthodox Christians into the wordless, imageless stillness of the mystery of God. More recently it has been helping a growing number of Christians in the West to find a deeper relationship with Him. This Quiet day, led by Jim Wellington, will seek to address three questions: 1. What is the Jesus Prayer? 2. How do we pray the Jesus Prayer? 3. How can the Jesus Prayer help us?
The Reverend Dr Jim Wellington is a retired priest in the Diocese of Southwell and Nottingham, and was formerly in the Leicester diocese. His doctorate was awarded through the Archbishop’s Examination in Theology for a thesis on the origins of the Jesus Prayer. He has written books on early Christian monasticism and contemporary prayer and spirituality.
