Adrift in Delight: A Contemplative Prayer Intensive ***FULLY BOOKED***
27th June 2021, 4:00 pm to 30th June 2021, 2:00 pm
£330Please note this retreat is now fully booked. We do operate a waiting list in case places become available.
The purpose of this retreat is to provide those who practise contemplation the time and space to deepen their practice (whether centering prayer, Christian meditation, mindfulness or some other approach).
By sitting together in supportive contemplative silence at intervals throughout the course of the day, we will deepen our contemplative practice by immersing ourselves gently but generously into it together. We’ll provide space within us and among us to allow the silence of God to expand across the landscape of our hearts.
In a series of short conferences, Chris Webb will reflect on how the great contemplative tradition speaks into our present experience, helping to shape and deepen our contemplative practice. Drawing on the Desert Christians, the Cloud of Unknowing, Julian of Norwich, John of the Cross and Teresa of Avila, we’ll explore the inner noise that draws us away from our true selves, the gentle reshaping of our intentions, the problems of discouragement and darkness, the awareness of Christ already within us, and more.
Chris Webb, Deputy Warden of Launde Abbey, is an Anglican priest who has ministered as president of a spiritual formation ministry in the USA, as a parish priest in Wales and in a church for the homeless. He is the author of two books: The Fire of the Word (2011) and God-Soaked Life (2017).
We want all our guests to be safe and secure when visiting Launde during the current public health situation. For details of our comprehensive Keeping You Safe programme click here.
